Olexandr Smyk. Frankinshteyn u vyshyvantsi. (Frankenstein in an Embroidered Shirt).

At present, this is the freshest album by Olexander Smyk – and, maybe, one of the best ones in his reserve. And the thing is even not about how actual these parallels sound for our political realities – unfortunately, they are actual. Sadly, our current politics give too many reasons for reflections, too much material for observation. However, no – there is nothing to complain of. As they say, every people has the authorities it deserves. If Ukrainians have authorities who constantly "have" Ukrainians – well… As known, there is none to blame – all of our huts stay aside. And these are obvious things – unpleasant, but so obvious. The more surprising it is that only separate, quite rare people sing about it. And only some of these ones sing about it frankly, without embellishment – because it hurts. Olexander Smyk is exactly one of these ones. For him, it obviously hurts, because the attempts to choose from two misfortunes the one that seems smaller are doomed. Because misfortune of any size remains misfortune... This album will hardly make politicians blush – otherwise, they will not be politicians. But, possibly, it will help to reflect on that to all the rest – to us. This is important – always. Because if you are not able to think independently, your life will be that of a slave.
