Lviv children choir "Radunytsa" has been living for 10 years already, and "Christmas Carol and Schedrivky" is already the second album by the collective. We will hope that it will be followed by new ones – because this disk by the choir produces very good impression. First, it contains not very well-known and widespread Christmas carols and schedrivky. For this, we should be grateful to studite monks, who recorded the majority of these songs in villages of Galychyna and Volyn. Secondly, the art director of the collective, Natalia Manko, processed the material carefully and nicely. Well, and thirdly – and this is, probably, still the main thing – "Radunytsa" really sings very beautifully. In this child's singing, there is already not a single hint at infantilism, not a single allowance for the young age. And, at the same time, there is no adult force, pressure, desire in it yet. This singing is soft and tender, but clean, ringing. It is not refined – and it is very good, because personally I see nothing valuable in refined things. At the same time, it is very clear, transparent. Not gelded – but live, warm. Real. Though it would seem – what could one expect from the secondary school...
