I started to listen to this disc and even became glad, as Volodymyr Verminskyi, as I can see, does not betray himself. Seemingly, how could another album of corals surprise you? Still, Verminskyi, as earlier, drops a very gentle hint at the fact that a usual point of view is not always the only one among all existing points of view. In this particular case it is quite enough to listen to the first track and to understand that a Ukrainian coral song is able to be something more than a usual extolling on the occasion of the Christmas. It is true, that well-known carols are also recorded at this disc, still you could hardly call it a disadvantage, at least because a soft and tender manner of performance is peculiar to this man. It seems as if he sang not with his voice, but with his spirits. And these spirits are transparent and affable. He invites you to come to his place, embraces you with his tender warmth and quietly lulls you. No doubt, a tender woman’s voice is quite appropriate here. After all, if we are speaking about birth, we can not do without a woman in any way. And at the end of our conversation we can say in terms of this recording that it is very simple (in the kindest sense of this word) – and very agreeable.
