Nechuy-Levyts’ky became one of the first and most appreciable realists of the classical Ukrainian literature. He so skillfully generalizes, comprehends human features, characteristics, that the reader has almost no need of fantasizing – it is very easy to imagine both the people, and the events. Characters of his personages are expressive, precise, and deep. Relations among them – sharp and delicate. Details – very eloquent. And thus it appears that his works are not just literature, but almost films, and it is very easy to get into the midst of them. Natalia Sums’ka’s skills deserve special attention. Due to how she reads, lives though, embodies these stories, you would not like to interrupt them. She reads even men's monologues so that one feels male notes, intonations – and the next moment, without any pause, you already hear the woman as she is. And these transitions are so easy and imperceptible that it is both surprising and pleasant to listen to them. At school, I remember, the both stories seemed to me rather long. But now, probably due to Sums’ka’s artistic skills, I would not like to abandon the space of the both stories – I want to follow them up to the end. Important notice! Record is made in mp3 format. All files names are in Ukrainian. Disclamer: All software proposed AS IS. We do not guarantee that it will be working on your PC. We have tested every CD on our PC and it works fine.

"Kholodny Yar" is one of those books that one could read through over one night, a true bestseller with the 70-year old history! Collective reading of the book used to be organized in "Prosvita"'s, names of its characters were adopted as pseudonyms by young OUN members. One could say without exaggerating that Yuri Horlis-Horsky became an idol of thousands of Ukrainian patriot...

"The classic of Ukrainian literature Stepan Vasylchenko (1879-1932) is a humanist writer, wonderful narrator and artist of the word. His works are spiced with benevolent humor, often have unexpected endings, are stylistically refined and, at the same time, simple. Whoever the author might tell us about – children or adults – these stories are about love and kindness, material difficulties and spiritual riche..."

A person who has the talent of a writer and the heart that is sincere, warm to people around has the ability to notice – and not to make out of it any great deal or loud merit. Such person pays attention to everything, large and small – and is able to choose what is important, characteristic among everything. And – to tell about it truly, richly, deeply.
