Mykhaylo Kotsjubyns‘kyy. Tini zabutykh predkiv. (mp3). (Shadows of forgotten ancestors) | | Track Reviews (1) |

Even if this record included only one story it would be worth having it in a private collection. "Shadows of forgotten ancestors" – it’s even difficult to imagine the number of people all over the world, who associate this title with Ukrainian film-making, with Ukrainian culture and Ukraine in general. For these people Ukraine is not simple and mundane, but deep, enigmatic, mythical and mysterious…At the same time, it is strange that many Ukrainians don’t even know that this Serhiy Paradzhanov’s film was made basing on the motifs of the same name story written by Mykhailo Kots’ubynskiy. Everyone, who has ever watched the screen version, knows that almost always the book is more profound than the film - it reveals more and does not abide by any limitations. To tell the truth this is not the case, but it doesn’t prove the opposite, because the book is never inferior to the film. Both are so different, but equally beautiful and absorbing… However, don’t forget - there are three more stories available on this record, and each of them is worth attention. Anyway, dear listener, this is your attention, which they deserve, because we stop multiplying our words here. Disclamer: All software proposed AS IS. We do not guarantee that it will be working on your PC. We have tested every CD on our PC and it works fine.

"Kholodny Yar" is one of those books that one could read through over one night, a true bestseller with the 70-year old history! Collective reading of the book used to be organized in "Prosvita"'s, names of its characters were adopted as pseudonyms by young OUN members. One could say without exaggerating that Yuri Horlis-Horsky became an idol of thousands of Ukrainian patriot...

"The classic of Ukrainian literature Stepan Vasylchenko (1879-1932) is a humanist writer, wonderful narrator and artist of the word. His works are spiced with benevolent humor, often have unexpected endings, are stylistically refined and, at the same time, simple. Whoever the author might tell us about – children or adults – these stories are about love and kindness, material difficulties and spiritual riche..."

Characters of his personages are expressive, precise, and deep. Relations among them – sharp and delicate. Details – very eloquent. And thus it appears that his works are not just literature, but almost films, and it is very easy to get into the midst of them.

A person who has the talent of a writer and the heart that is sincere, warm to people around has the ability to notice – and not to make out of it any great deal or loud merit. Such person pays attention to everything, large and small – and is able to choose what is important, characteristic among everything. And – to tell about it truly, richly, deeply.
