It is not a secret that Maneken is Evgen Filatov, across whose remixes in the quality of DJ Major you quite often come in our store in albums of lots of popular performers. Well, and now it's time for an acquaintance with the author's music by Evgen – and it truly deserves favorable attention and proves that with practically each track of the disc. Sure, one can feel here internal breeding, however one would be reluctant to apply the term idm in the literal sense here, because "First Look" – is still not quite a dancing album. This is, not the least, music exactly for listening – interested, immersed, because it is possible to find in it quite a lot of pleasant constituents. Deep in the foundation – something from deep, though not obviously, but, probably, intuitional. And on the surface – a bit of space and disco, with bright drops of funk, and sometimes also with percussion hints at ethnics, and the palette is not limited to this. Let us not forget about the vocal either – in the end, "First Look" can also be interesting just as a songs album. Evgen Filatov himself sings not bad – his voice sounds softly and lyrically, gently – and when selecting the vocal assistants (female ones) he did not made a mistake either. Besides, if one pays attention to the texts – they appear no less positive than the music. Well, and as a result – we have a disc able to make even a rather gloomy day clearer, lighter.
