"Ukrainian music must have its national coloring, which was inherent in such variety art composers as Platon Mayboroda, Igor Shamo, Myroslav Skoryk, Igor Homa, Bogdan Yanovsky, Volodymyr Ivasyuk. The song is the basis of our modern life – difficult, even cruel one. With the help of a beautiful song a person becomes better. Personally I perform only the songs that I like. Singing is the aspiration of my dreamy, lyric soul... The first inspiration to sing jazz was given to me by the chief of "Medicus" ensemble Igor Homa. He constantly gave me books on jazz to read, discs with records of jazz singers to listen. Due to him, I was introduced to world stars of jazz. I could only copy them first. Once Igor Homa gave me some theme in English and asked me to improvise. This is how my jazz vocal in "Medicus" ensemble started... Lesya Borovetz"...Lesya Borovetz is presently the main soloist of the ensemble "Medicus". So far, in our collective she is the only one who successfully performs both variety art and jazz improvisations. Flexibility of her voice, an extensive range, nice pitch – all of that creates great performance opportunities for this soloist. Moreover, one should add that Lesya Borovetz intones absolutely faultlessly..." Igor Homa (information from the disc's polygraphy) Unfortunately, the recording quality of some songs is not irreproachable, but we decided to offer this material on the web site, as it will sure be interesting for many fans of the Ukrainian music. In our opinion, it is the album "Room in the Middle of my Heart" that turns out the best studio album among Viktor Pavlik's works – and it still remains such. So, it is very nice that this disc is now re-issued in good quality – we believe it has not lost its relevance, as good drinks and elegant clothes do not lose it...

Nazariy Yaremchuk was one of the most popular performers of the Ukrainian variety art – but for some reason over the past 10 years his records were not released in Ukraine even once. And now the silence has finally been broken – to the joy of, we are sure, of the great number of fans of his talent...

...here, one can hear both a capella compositions, and orchestrated ones, and those recorded in the variety art genre. And such variety, as a result, presents Olexander Vasylenko as a vocalist in a very positive light – because different styles, sure, imply different performance nature. And he has succeeded in this – easily, convincingly.

Olexander Vasylenko has released two more related, interconnected works: "Night Garden Flower" and "I Feel Good With You". They are dedicated – to the romance. Thus, it is nice that the term here implies a rather broad sense.

"Magic of Spring" - as the title implies - is a romantic work. Songs devoted to feelings, addressed to a woman were included here - and these are light dedications. In the end, the important thing is not whether relationships among people transform into a common path, or whether they remain simply a memory. It is important - to feel gratitude for the presents that life provides us with.

This is some truly surprising combination of simplicity, sincerity and lyricism – plus, sure, the characteristic timbre of the performer's voice. All of that together creates a very warm, soft, transparent atmosphere, and it is the name of the new album – "Nostalgia" – that characterizes it, probably, best of all.

Igor Bilozir is one of those already legendary people about whom there is no sense to remind you anything. For sure, you know that the profile of the Ukrainian variety art would be absolutely different without him – and, probably, it would presumably have much fewer nice features. Musicians know this not worse than the audience – that is why new compilations, new arrangements of his songs appear.

It is not by chance that it was Kobza that recorded a disc – the first in Ukraine stereo disc, and exactly Kobza was the first Ukrainian group that had a professional tour in the west (at times of the Soviet Union). Actually, that is why we consider that the collection of the best songs from the early period of Kobza’s work can interest lots of people.

...when such vocal as Mykola Svydyuk's sounds – sometimes one feels pity that today there are no heirs of that craft, there are no performers with such voices. Here, it seems that he does not demonstrate any extraordinary equilibristic vocal, and the songs are not that difficult, right? But it touches – it is simply nice to listen to, and that's it.

A transparent sensation of something close, warm, partially forgotten a bit – however, not less native appears from the very first notes. Vice versa – the haze of time melts and attributes these melodies, voices with a sort of unreserved, indescribable tenderness. This is not even nostalgia – this is just some other perception of beauty, which we sometimes lack in our days.

There is no doubt that the fourth collection of this series will cheer up everyone who will have the luck of listening to it. Even those who do not know Ukrainian – and, naturally, those who know and understand it. ..despite the Oriental sophistication of the melodies and intricacy of the rhythms – it is very European music, in fact. And it is not so much about the jazz vein, rather about the ability to avoid the superfluous, which, with such richness and emotional intensity of the music, is a true feat.

In his time, Igor Zakus became virtually the first jazz bass-player in Ukraine who released a solo album. Thus, the new album by Igor Zakus is what nobody seems to have done before in the Ukrainian jazz. And the word "song" in the title "Ukrainian Bass Song" appears far not by chance. Generally speaking, this is also an album of duets

If we speak about Yulia Roma – it is not just a new vocal album. This is truly an author work. What is the sparkle here, you might ask? And it is that this is a Ukrainian-language jazz album – and exactly Yulia Roma is the author of not only the music but also all the lyrics (a booklet with them, by the way, is added to the release). Such an exclusive thing.

Yelena Popova strikes with universality, it is difficult to define where she succeeds better – in energetic "hits" or in lyric, delicate ballads. Here she sounds with a bright flash, promises an explosion – and does not cheat, grants powerful emotional splashes.
