The oldest of these recordings was made as early as 1972 and the latest one was made in 1992, when Ukraine became an independent state. So, this disc covers twenty years, during which three epochs have changed. Children of those days now have their own children, but songs have their own time dimension. Today everybody sings them, tomorrow – practically nobody does it, the day after tomorrow they will be recalled again and very often will be performed the way they are performed today. The same happened with these songs, and not only because they are folk ones, that is – almost eternal. There are two reasons for that, I think. One of them lies in memory, to be exact – in nostalgia for those times. To be even more exact – nostalgia for youth, when it is so easy to perceive brightness and beauty of life. Still, there is one more reason why people recollect these songs as they were performed exactly by groups of those days. You see, it is not the first attempt to perform folk songs with the help of modern instruments and devices and to interpret their music into modern language. Besides, twenty years present a real history within the history itself. At that, today, I think, we do not estimate the success of these attempts. We are just listening. As we listened long ago. As we listen now.

Ukrainian folk songs in general are phenomena, which are able to attract attention to themselves. Irrespective of the fact whether it is an authentic performance, or whether it is a professional one, or whether it is a modern adaptation. Because the Ukrainian language, you know, happenes to be melodious and euphonious. One can particularly feel that in Ukrainian songs.

Це все дуже-дуже добре,але ж це збірник. Дуже б хотілось мати диск з піснями ансамблю "Мрія".сподіваюся це можливо

Все песни известные не первый год.Покупая,я знал,что получу удовольствие,и не ошибся.Вспомнил молодость,нахлынули воспоминания,ностальгия и т. д. Все было здорово! Всем советую!

Диск хороший саме нестандартним підходом до виконання народних пісень. На мій погляд, найкращі пісні у цьому альбомі - це пісні у виконанні тріо Мареничів, "Чічері" Червоної Рути, "Била мене мати" у виконанні ВІА "Візерунки шляхів". Безперчено, хто хоче почути лише гарне виконання народних пісень - краще купити альбом тих самих Мареничів або Квітки Цісик.
В даному альбомі цікаво роспізнавати вплив часу та іноземних музик на українські ВІА. Тут можна почути і Джетро Талл, і Дорз. А от Джордж Майкл явно поцупив аранжування свого хіта "Freedom" з пісні "Чічері".
Але й без ложки дьогтю не обійшлося - з 9 по 13 іпсні краще перемотати. Вони могли б звучати на сільському весіллі під просту йоніку. Так зіпсували "Підманула-підвела", що аж шкода.
В цілому - диск вартий уваги.

Many of these sound like bad theme songs from TV shows in the 70's. Most traditional melodies lost in the disco beats. Not recommended unless you want to hear a disco version of some traditional songs.
