Lead by Bohdan Hmelnytskyi kozaks laid siege to a small town Zbarazh, Polish shlyahta (gentry) lead by Ukraine’s worst enemy Yarema Vyshnevetskyi got trapped. Having run out of food, suffering from plague and other sicknesses Yarema sent dozens of messengers to the King of Poland to beg him provide them with military assistance, but none of the messengers could get through kozaks’ siege.
It seemed that kozaks will soon celebrate their victory, but something unpredictable happened – an alliance with the Crimean Khan Islam – Hirei broke up because of Khan’s treason: in the middle of the fierce fighting the Horde left the battle field…
Immense military losses, the perfidy of the closest allies, personal family tragedy – these are only some of those tortures that tormented the great Hetman of Ukraine at that time. Production: National Dovzhenko film studio

Фільм непросто надзвичайний, а приголомшливий, особливо тепер видно усі його переваги, як в стилістичному так і художньому вирішенні. А те, що у Москві живе Настя, що читає Старицького, Костенко і Загребельного це не дивно, адже ми також декламуємо Ахматову, Блока, Єсєніна. Так що будемо чекати ще одного такого ж сильного історично-художнього фільму разом. А для Змія хороших новин нема, лише одна безкоштовна порада - подивись у дзеркало.

Полностью согласна с предыдущим отзывом ЗМИЯ. Добавлю, что в одном издании (у меня их два) на обложке есть постельный кадр, коего в фильме нет.
Я в своё время героически одолела всю трилогию Старицкого, сюжетные линии которой использованы в фильме. Отчего режиссёру не пришла мысль снять на основе Старицкого романтическую комедию?? Для драмы о Хмельницком было бы прекрасно использовать, например, произведение Загребельного "Я, Богдан" и поэмы Лины Костенко.
Абазопуло хорош собой в этой роли, но и только. Кстати, почему ничего не снимают о Хмельницком в Чигирине и Суботове?? Там же аура необыкновенная, и ракурс при желании можно подходящий найти. Так что будем ждать следующей попытки снять кино о Богдане Хмельницком...

Фільм просто жахливий.
Була надія, що побачу нарешті українську історичну стрічку, ще й так розрекламовану в ЗМІ!
Розчарування було сильним та дуже гірким: сюжет незрозумілий, постановка жахлива, гра акторів погана.
