Ostap Stakhiv. Tribute for V. Ivasyuk.

Ostap Stakhiv, as known, has for a few years been already working in the direction of updating famous melodies, songs – he strives to achieve their more modern sounding, he searches for more actual perception. And this disregarding the fact that he is a bandura-player – and of bandura-players, usually, such approach to the tradition is not too characteristic. However, there are exceptions to any rule – and this is good, because in a different case no movement would be possible. We think that exactly such reasoning can account for the specificity of sounding of this album of songs by Volodymyr Ivasyuk performed by Ostap Stakhiv. For fans of the "old school", possibly, this sort of experiments will not seem witty – but, on the other hand, why not try? Ivasyuk's songs have survived a lot of interpretations – but the majority of these interpretations were created rather long ago. A new generation has come – so how can one avoid trying speaking to it in its own language? The more so that these songs have not lost their freshness and beauty till now. And will hardly ever lose them at all.
