"...In spring 1878 P.Chaykovsky came for a visit to Ukraine, to the family of his sister  Aleksandra Davydova. Aleksandra had seven children, and Chaykovsky untiredly invented festivities with bonfires, fireworks for them and, certainly, dances, where he accompanied on the piano.

His little nephew found it difficult to master the tricks of playing the piano. Sitting on the verandah with tea, Petr Illych heard how in a neighboring room the unlucky "pianist" tormented gamuts and etudes. He felt sorry for the kid and decided to compose a cycle of easy piano plays various in genres, diverse in their character, taking into account difficulties of the beginner. On the first note sheet it says: "Winter Morning". It seems to me that in the "Winter Morning" he presented his childhood impression. As though a kid peeked out through the window and saw the street covered with snow and frozen windows of the opposite house. Imagine that you breathe on frozen glass, it starts melting, and through this small clearance we watch what happens behind the window. Close your eyes and listen to the play "Winter Morning".
