We have already indicated above that the bandura by Georgiy Matviyiv became both an interesting and important decoration of
"Thousand Light Angels" – the currently recent album by
Fleur. Well, and now you have before you the great opportunity to make sure that nothing happens by chance. For far not just one bandura-player is living and working in Odesa – but it was Georgiy who was invited to play on the abovementioned album. Thus, listen attentively – however, it cannot happen otherwise all the same. So original, a bit unusual, but beautiful patterns created by Georgiy's playing arise – I think that you will not notice as you'll have listened this disc several times in succession. Here the philosophical and lyric clothes conceal a lot of clear fire and strong air – you feel them even in absolutely quiet fragments, seemingly. And, the other way round, even at the most expressive moments – there is the feeling of balance, contemplation. In the end, it is worth remembering that authors' music sounds on the album – and it is able, at least, to extend traditional ideas about sounding and application of bandura. Personally I have until recently been familiar with music by only one bandura-player of this kind – Roman Hrynkiv. But his playing can be heard only on recordings by Al Di Meola,
Jazz Impression, a few other projects – unfortunately, there are no solo albums. At least, those released in Ukraine. Therefore, the more pleasant it is to pay attention to that Matviyiv, apart from the represented one, has another album
(
"Exit").
And I really hope that his discography will grow quickly and at a high quality level – for the pleasure of all of us.
