Mykola Savchuk. Zoloti kolomyjky. (Gold Kolomyikas)

Well, finally the time has come for kolomyikas as well. Not in that sense that until now they have never been released – there are quite a bit records with modernized sounding of these songs. Modernized both in the sense of music accompaniment, and in the sense of texts. But, unfortunately, in this processing the main emphasis is usually put on two themes. This is either political satire or indecent verses of more or less frank contents. In this case – we see a serious approach, the purpose of which is to convey to the listener the real colors of kolomyikas, their sincerity and originality. And, I think, this objective was attained – on the disc, we hear real, authentic kolomyikas with accompaniment of real, masterful musicians. Certainly, it could not do without humor and transparent hints. But, as these are texts dozens or even hundreds of years old sounding, – they have that tolerance, even original chastity. That is what has nearly been lost, forgotten in our time, when freedom often verges on debauchery... What our grandparents breathed when they were young and hot, but – also pure.
