National Orchestra of Folk Instruments. Melodies Of Ukraine. Ninth CD. | | Track Reviews (1) |
|
|
"The ninth disc created by the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Ukraine within the series "Melodies of Ukraine" is an interesting attempt to reproduce folk and popular authors' songs in instrumental performance only, without the vocal. Timbre richness, bright expressive opportunities of folk instruments, delicate feeling of the energy of the music material and the general emotional breathing allowed creating the song music masterpieces of the Ukrainian people. When listening to this disc, everyone will discover in him/herself and will feel an inexhaustible spiritual source and will get extraordinary aesthetical and emotional pleasure due to the harmony, raciness and diversity of senses. All human feelings, moral health, sincerity and love are conveyed in these songs. Such a disc is really needed. Because today, when Ukraine is striving and affirming common human ideals, we especially need the folk song and folk music, for it helps, in the global urbanized world, to preserve one's culture, morality and the ineradicable Ukrainian spirit." V. Gutsal laureate of the National Shevchenko Award, the People's Artist of Ukraine, Professor (information from the CD's polygraphy)

Ukrainian folk instruments are rich and varied. The most ancient music instruments are: tambourine, bandura, torban, dulcimers, basolya, bass, lyre, pan-pipe, dentsivka (Huzul type of the pan-pipe), kuvytsya, trembita, surma, bagpipe, drymba. "Kozaky" ensemble uses virtually all of the instruments mentioned.

Various synthesis is, actually, a characteristic sign of music by Vognesmih – as it has two powerful grounds. One is rock sounding, strong, deep, modern. The second is the ethnic component, which is based on the pleasantly extensive palette of authentic instruments.

I think it is able to become a real finding for all those who are interested in authentic sounding of Ukrainian folk instruments. There are, by the way, quite a lot of them here: lyre, buhalo, koza, kobza, bugay, kozobas, floyara, pan-pipe, pan-flute, dulcimers, horn – a real collection of the characteristic soundings.

His solo performance and performance accompanied by an orchestra sound very bright and cheerful. Especially because there has been found the possibility for not only for classical compositions, but also for creative search. To make a long story short – it is good.

To your attention – not just an album as a collection of separate works, but an integral composition. Music researchers determine it as a mono-opera – a bit unusual both in its form, and in the context. We could say that it is a new attempt of artistic, metaphorical recreation of the process of becoming of Ukrainian people.

As the first thing one pays attention to is warm-heartedness. Probably, this is the name for the feeling when one understands that not only technical skills contribute into performance of a melody, but also the heart. Probably, this is one of the main components of the beauty of music – and here this beauty is audible.

We have already repeatedly met Ukrainian Barvy – and the group has never disappointed us. It feels identically easy in absolutely different styles, it performs very varied music – spiritual, ceremonial, classic, modern, folk, variety art.
