Having taken a long pause – the previous album was released in 2005 – L'yuk has somehow perceptibly grown up. Not became it has become exemplarily serious – no, with healthy self-irony, as always, everything is ok here. L'yuk was from the very beginning distinguished due to its ability to wear a child's smile on the bearded face – it is nice that now the beard is thickening (not with Mala, sure), however the smile does not disappear. That is, in the aspect of sounding – this must be the most accomplished album by the group. Not a single superfluous sound, clear and precise lines at presence of abundant disseminations of various styles – and at that they have succeeded in preserving the recognizable manner – the real sun splashes cocktail, light and tart. But the impression is that the sun here is the dawning one. As though L'yuk has incarnated in the new album all the best from its already considerable experience – and this is rather not a greeting but a farewell. And after that, there should be something absolutely different. And, frankly speaking, it will be really a pity if this different does not happen – because "Mother's Youth" testifies to a truly good potential for a qualitative jump. At that, in any direction – indie-rock, trip-hop, intellectual cabaret, acid jazz, music of islands, whatever, that's not the essence. It will not be able to appear empty. By the way, having listened attentively to the songs' lyrics, you will see that L'yuk does not lose the attentively smiling attitude to the word (let us, by the way, mention that Anton Slepakov took part in the album) – and this is also nice. With such luggage, it is possible to boldly make a step ahead. But first let us listen to the disc once again and say to our mothers' youth – "thank you")
