This disc is double exclusive. First – as any recording of a live concert, it has fixated instantaneous changes of moods and states of the musicians, some spontaneous melody findings, fluctuations of temperature in the hall. This is evident. But the main thing – now you have in front of you not just a concert by Igor Zakus with friends, but also a presentation of his absolutely new program, "Kolomyyky". This album does not yet exist in a studio version – and it is quite probable that in the studio it will sound a little bit or absolutely different. Well, and here and now – for the first and the last time it is just like this. Igor Zakus said that he had already long matured the project – to make his own arrangements of folk songs. A very appropriate and timely project, for in Ukrainian jazz this movement is only beginning – the only things we could mention here are the albums "Oj, Spring, Spring" by Mlada and, maybe, "F5" by Aby MC with Tanya Radosteva. And that is all... But music that does not lean on the root of its native land cannot be national – and thus it risks to become unified, blossom with barren flowers. Not necessarily – though... Briefly, a wonderful undertaking – and bright implementation. The intention has ripened, and we see the fruit – qualitative, delicious. Igor Zakus, as usual, demonstrates refined mastery of the technique – and deep understanding of the material, due to which he easily and naturally mixes various styles. However, all participants of the concert were at their best on that day, that's why there was space for living jazz magic. When everything meets in one point, plaits around Ukrainian colors – here it is, the Jazz-Kolo – and there appears something new, original, own, native... Anton Jozhik Leyba (Hedgehog)

One can already see from the very name: this concert became a joint project of Lviv festival "Jazz Bez" and the Kyiv series of mini-festivals "Jazz-Kolo". However, two concerts took place on that evening in actual fact – and those performances were so different that almost no temptation even arises to compare them with each other.

"Acid Menu" has succeeded for one hundred percent. Very dense, saturated – but at the same time also transparent, elevated music sounds here. Speaking about the performance technique – it ranges from good to just virtuoso, and that can be said about virtually each of participants of this concert.

The disc represents most of the compositions from the second album by Nataliya Lebedeva "Medium Cool", two compositions from the album "Paints", as well as three plays that have not yet been released before. As a special guest, Artem Mendelenko took part in the concert – on that evening his saxophone sounded as though he has always been in that music..

It sounds as very delicate, intelligent combination of clear feelings and attentive reflections. All through the time while the disc sounds, one has the haunting feeling that the musicians realize themselves and the space around literally at every second – and are able to instantly react to its every motion, because they have inside a full degree of freedom and mastery.

Sure, Er. J. Orchestra is one of the most interesting Ukrainian projects in the domain of ethno-fusion today. And not only Ukrainian ones. Actually, this music is so organically intertwined into the world sound fabric – it is impossible to limit it with any borders, geographic or stylistic, etc.
