A beautiful female voice – it is always something greater than simply a voice. In case of Olga Voychenko – it is considerably more. To say that three and a half octaves are hidden (more precisely, revealed) in it – means to say nothing. It is not enough to have a valuable, high-quality instrument – it is desirable to master it as well. Olga – has mastered it so that we can only be grateful to her. Especially when she sings in lowercase – then, the thought flashes that in Ukraine, presumably, there is simply nobody to compare with her. It is impossible to pass by the voice that shrouds softly, and embarrasses, and lulls, and strains, makes you wait for the next note – and this expectation is so delightful... However, as well as the reward for it... There is something in her singing so brightly real that it hardly ever happens now – it was inherent in jazz times of Ella and Etta, therefore it goes beyond the present time. Thus, it seems to me, the voice of Olga Voychenko is directly related to that fundamental layer without which jazz is impossible at all. And, consequently, it is always modern, actual, as well as any deep jazz. By the way, a great role in creation of such atmosphere was played by Sergey Kapelyushko's guitar. Tender, transparent, masterly, it took the party of the second violin – and successfully replaced a complete band. There are no blank spaces in the album – everything is harmoniously filled. With sounds – and with pauses. That is, probably, it. It only remains to add that a new album is to be released soon. We have been waiting long – "Tenderly" has already become a real rarity. Actually, as far as I now, there are only a few copies of it left in free sale. It seems to be good, but I feel – a bit sorry. Such music must exist in abundance – always... ..despite the Oriental sophistication of the melodies and intricacy of the rhythms – it is very European music, in fact. And it is not so much about the jazz vein, rather about the ability to avoid the superfluous, which, with such richness and emotional intensity of the music, is a true feat.

Ukrainian music must have its national coloring, which was inherent in such variety art composers as Mayboroda, Shamo, Skoryk, Homa, Yanovsky, Ivasyuk. The song is the basis of our modern life – difficult, even cruel one. With the help of a beautiful song a person becomes better.

In his time, Igor Zakus became virtually the first jazz bass-player in Ukraine who released a solo album. Thus, the new album by Igor Zakus is what nobody seems to have done before in the Ukrainian jazz. And the word "song" in the title "Ukrainian Bass Song" appears far not by chance. Generally speaking, this is also an album of duets

If we speak about Yulia Roma – it is not just a new vocal album. This is truly an author work. What is the sparkle here, you might ask? And it is that this is a Ukrainian-language jazz album – and exactly Yulia Roma is the author of not only the music but also all the lyrics (a booklet with them, by the way, is added to the release). Such an exclusive thing.

Yelena Popova strikes with universality, it is difficult to define where she succeeds better – in energetic "hits" or in lyric, delicate ballads. Here she sounds with a bright flash, promises an explosion – and does not cheat, grants powerful emotional splashes. And in a minute – softly, almost in whisper lulls in cozy intonations, causes quiet tremor with her ability to breathe transparently in thick autumn color...

...the basis of the album is vocal improvisations. And so diversified that every next play surprises you without fail. On the whole, it seems, the music balances somewhere on the verge of hard-bop, besides, it contains some transparent ethnic elements.

...Yulia Roma's singing sounds just as that minute of silence before the sunrise, as if blue eyes of a child three-month old, attentively and easily... Music of this voice transforms jazz into soft crystal, it is so masterful that it does not attract any superfluous attention – but you cannot actually stop listening, noticing, feeling – and the sun rises, and the heart elate...
