"In the repertoire of B. Hmyrya, there are more than 100 pieces by foreign composers. Among them, opera parties – 10, arias – 21, romances – 67 and a few folk songs. The singer was proud of this, because he realized that, while mastering the heights of the world art, he enriched his people as well. The singer wrote to the editor of the Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia Volodymyr Zuts (letter of 21.06.1968) about galley proofs of the article sent to him: "It seems to me that when we write history, information about a specific person needs to be offered more extensively, so that descendants, when reading, knew not only about when one was born, where, when and what one was awarded with, but also what one did for his own people. That is why I added a few parties that played a certain role in the music life. Such parties as Mephistopheles or Nalikanta prove that we are also able to perform the western classical music, we are not limited to our wonderful song only, as, unfortunately, still lots of people think and say".."
