It seems to me that none who has at least once heard performance by Motion Trio – and the more so none who has seen it – will ever forget, mix it up with anybody. Even today not too much of such music is being created in Ukraine – to say nothing about the middle of the last century.. Igor Khoma managed to involve really wonderful musicians into his band – the rhythm sections, the winds, the strings and the keys in various plays pleasantly surprise. But still the most striking thing is the authentic Ukrainian spirit of the music represented here.

It amazes at times how finely the Ukrainian folk songs are blended in with the jazz ideas by ShockolaD. ShockolaD may have limited itself to some hints at the source turning these songs into a riff with their complete mastery of performing. But the group changes the type of tune very neatly, and, at some extent, they rather add to it than change.
